Eat Out to Help Out

Updated: Jul 15, 2020

August 2020 Scheme

On 8th July the Government revealed the new Eat Out to Help Out scheme along with other measures under the "A Plan for Jobs" announcement. The new Eat Out to Help Out scheme will support approximately 130,000 businesses and protect 1.8 million jobs by encouraging the public to dine out this August. To get more information from the Government about the scheme visit HERE.

WHAT IS THE SCHEME?

Every diner will be entitled to a discount on their meal at participating restaurants, cafes, pubs and other food establishments. You can use the scheme:

  • all day, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 31 August 2020

  • to offer a 50% discount, up to a maximum of £10 per person, to diners for food or non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in

  • to claim the money back from the government

  • without a limit on the number of times a customer can use the offer

Your customers cannot get a discount for someone who is not eating or drinking. Alcohol and service charges are excluded from the offer.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Even if you have received Government support through other measures (e.g. grants, job retention scheme, etc) you can still register your business to take part in this scheme if your establishment:

  • sells food for immediate consumption on the premises

  • provides its own dining area or shares a dining area with another establishment for eat-in meals

You cannot use it if:

  • an establishment that only offers takeaway food or drink

  • catering services for private functions

  • a hotel that provides room service only

  • dining services (such as packaged dinner cruises)

  • mobile food vans or trailers

If your application is based on dishonest or inaccurate information, your registration will be revoked.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

  • the name and address of each establishment to be registered

  • the UK bank account number and sort code for the business
