Its just a few days to the BID's exciting new event bringing music, dance and tastes from our many communities together.
'Our City Around the World' showcases so many influences that make up the City of Southend and includes dozens of performances through the day.
The FREE event developed by the BID runs from 12.00 until 6pm on Sunday 21st July.
The stage based under the railway bridge will feature an eclectic array of performances from local talent, community groups, and choirs. There will be traditional Bagpipes to open the proceedings, followed by a Jazz concert from the Southend Jazz Co Operative, dancing from the Hindu community, Capoeira and drumming from Brazilarte, folk from St Vincent's and so much more!
As well as a World Market, featuring food from across the globe, there will also be artisan traders selling clothes, jewellery, art and cultural items.
There will be a host of workshops throughout the day, including the SEACA steel band in The Victoria Shopping Centre 1-3pm, Soft play by Pretty Occasional things, and art workshops with a drum circle in The Royals Shopping Centre during the afternoon.
There will also be a family activity “Around the World in our City Passport trail” where children visit 6 creation stations in venues around the High Street (commencing at The Ironworks) on completing each activity, the children will receive a stamp in their ‘passport’ and ultimately leave with a small prize.
There is live music all afternoon at Royal Square featuring local artists and even a climbing wall from Indirock nearby outside Lloyds Bank!
With so much to do, make a date with Southend City Centre on Sunday and join in the fun!
