Free, family-friendly story trail this February.

This February half term, families in Southend can enjoy a wonderful day out with Southend City BID’s virtual story trail.

As part of local plans to help families create unforgettable memories, Southend City BID have teamed up with High Street Safari to run an exciting, free story trail from the 10th of February to the 26th of February 2023. By following a virtual map and characters throughout the city, families can choose what happens within the story ‘The mystery of the Secret Keys’, enjoying a unique activity. Meanwhile, children can take selfies and record videos with these characters; it certainly promises to deliver exciting half term entertainment.

Southend City BID and High Street Safari hope this event encourages families to visit Southend and get out walking; parents will be able to keep their little ones entertained with this free activity in the city, whilst children can become fully immersed in an imaginative story.

‘The Mystery of the Secret Keys’ is located at ten stops around Southend city centre, with families being guided on their trip by The Luminauts, an interstellar team of superheroes, as they find special keys that release 10 gem-eating beasties in AR (augmented reality).

This exciting trail takes about forty-five minutes to complete but can be finished in more than one visit. It’s completely free for families and groups and all participants will win a free, digital fun pack at the end. The trail works without the need for families to download or sign up to anything and operates on any smart device. Meanwhile, it has been designed so that there is no need to go inside the venues, although some participating businesses are offering discounts and vouchers to players. Moreover, one lucky winner will receive an annual pass to Adventure Inside, courtesy of Adventure Island. This winner will be selected at random from those who complete the trail.

Southend City BID’s story trail reflects their ongoing efforts to attract visitors to the city this February. It will operate alongside the LuminoCity Festival of Light (16th February – 18th February); an attraction which is set to be immensely popular. With both events taking place this February half term, the entire family can be entertained from day to night in Southend.

Discussing Southend City BID’s decision to host this virtual story trail, BID Manager Suzanne Gloyne says:

We love hosting fun, interactive events for the entire family and this February we will continue to oversee unmissable activities. We love working with High Street Safari and have every confidence in the success of this trail; it’s engaging and encourages people to explore our wonderful City and businesses!’

Southend City BID thank High Street Safari for bringing this wonderful trail to the City. To find out more, visit www.southendbid.com.
