Southend BID host Platinum Jubilee-themed trail throughout the city #SouthendBIDJubileeTrail

From Saturday 28th May – Thursday 9th June 2022 Southend BID are excited to be hosting a Platinum Jubilee-themed trail for families throughout Southend-on-Sea. Celebrating a momentous royal event, whilst creating a fun summer activity for children, this experience will be a wonderful addition to the upcoming bank holiday weekend.

Southend BID’s trail will commence at The Forum, where families can collect a printed map highlighting important spots throughout the city. From there, posters with answers to the trail’s questions can be found in 12 different locations. Upon returning their map and correct entries to The Forum, attendees will then be entered into a prize draw to win a gift package, consisting of a variety of items from participating businesses. This fun-filled activity will, Southend BID hope, connect children with the Platinum Jubilee in a memorable way.

Discussing the trail, Southend BID Manager Ashley Oglina-Beecham says:

‘The Platinum Jubilee is an incredibly important event; Her Majesty the Queen will officially become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service and that certainly warrants celebration.

At Southend BID we’re aware children often aren’t entirely familiar with the realities of royal service. With this in mind, and as Southend has been so kindly supported by the royal family over recent years - with Prince Charles just weeks ago visiting our city to award Southend city status - we felt it only right to commemorate this event with an activity that connects the entire family with Her Majesty’s accomplishments.

Our trail will encourage families to explore Southend, support local businesses, and ultimately have fun throughout the city on what’s set to be a fantastic bank holiday weekend. We can’t wait to see people enjoy all that the trail has to offer, marking the occasion as a community.’
