Southend City BID announce headline sponsors for Christmas switch-on.

Southend City BID are delighted to now announce their sponsors and partners for this year’s big Christmas switch-on event. As they work together to make this festive celebration unforgettable, local residents and visitors alike can look forward to a spectacular show.

A Better Start Southend (ABSS), a partnership of local organisations who have years of experience supporting families and young children, are now on board as Southend City BID’s main sponsor. Together, they are working passionately to create a family-friendly, joyous event.

Discussing their sponsorship of Southend City BID’s Christmas switch-on, Tara Poore, Director at A Better Start Southend, has said:

“We are thrilled to be a part of this year’s holiday celebrations for our City and look forward to bringing our community together during this special time.”

Meanwhile, Stambridge Security and Royals Shopping Centre are Southend City BID’s acting Christmas tree sponsors, with their 40-foot tree now being seen in Victoria Circus, and BBC Essex will be hosting the switch-on’s main stage. This will certainly prove to be an unmissable day for the entire family.

In addition, Southend City BID are thrilled to announce that Jordan Gray, a British comedian and actress, will be turning on the City’s iconic Christmas lights.

As the creator and co-star of the record-breaking sitcom ‘Transaction’, creator of her award-winning one-woman show ‘Is it a bird?’, and the first ever transgender contestant on BBC’s The Voice, Jordan has become a renowned performer who reflects all that makes Southend great.

Jordan adds:

‘I love my city and it’s always been where I get my best work done. If I’m not head-down in my laptop at The Forum, you can usually find me at Little Smash Comedy at The Alex most Sundays. It is a pleasure and privilege to switch on the lights this year and I hope me and my silly songs will continue to make you proud.’

Suzanne Gloyne, Southend City BID’s Manager, is over the moon to be working alongside such giving organisations and cannot wait to see Jordan entertain visitors:

‘The Christmas switch-on is a hugely popular event and we are so glad to be hosting this celebration alongside A Better Start Southend, Stambridge Security, and Royals Shopping Centre. Working with local organisations and businesses to host fun, family-friendly events is always something we take great pride in.

Jordan Gray is also an incredible artist; I know she’ll bring spectacular charisma to this event.’

Southend City BID are delighted to be hosting a family-friendly event that celebrates wonderfully diverse talent, with the help of these generous and committed sponsors.
