Street Rangers help with capture of dangerous weapon

Writer's picture: Southend BIDSouthend BID

Were you aware that the Street Rangers contributed to the capture of a prolific offender in Southend High Street on Friday afternoon?

The 17 year-old boy, who was carrying around a machete knife, discarded the item after seeing police and was spotted by a business in doing so. The business then contacted the Street Rangers via a Townlink radio, which enabled both to communicate immediately. The police were then informed, who the Street Rangers were patrolling with at the time.

After being held in custody, he was later charged for owning and carrying a dangerous weapon and will appear at Basildon Crown Court in April.

Due to this resource and direct link to the Street Rangers, we were able to inform the police and make an arrest so quickly.
